Happy New Year from all of us here at Aqua! We want to remind you about an important milestone achieved in University Park: Drinking water has been restored to below the regulatory lead action level for the latest monitoring period, which covered July to December 2020. This important milestone was confirmed this month by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
The positive news continues into the New Year, with January data again confirming that water quality remains below the lead action level regulatory threshold. Thank you for helping us get here.
When water providers meet drinking water action-level requirements like we have, regulators continue working with the provider to confirm the treatment is “optimized.” This means validating that the treatment is as effective as possible for the water system (based on other important water quality aspects like water pH). As part of our ongoing monitoring and sampling protocols, we will continue collaborating with regulators on this process.
Prioritizing your well-being remains our top priority, and we’re committed to restoring water confidence as we safeguard the water quality. We’re continuing to provide resources – including filters, filter replacements and bottled water – at our distribution center, and do not hesitate to request free water sampling if you have concerns with your water by calling 877.987.2782.
You can continue to find updates on water quality and our efforts in the community at WaterFactsIL.com – or give us a call with any questions.
We look forward to continuing to rebuild with you in this fourth and final phase of progress, and we thank you for your continued cooperation.
