March 2020 Community Updates

3/23/2020 - As we have all experienced in the past few days, public health experts and regulators are recommending significant changes to our daily lives to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Please know that today at the distribution center, each customer is receiving six gallons of water due to limited supply, as demand for bottled water has increased nationally.
We are hopeful this will allow us to provide bottled water to as many customers as possible.
While we have every intention of continuing our distribution center services, we have been in contact with our water suppliers and continued shortages may require us to further limit or adjust our operations in the coming days. At this time, we are continuing to explore options to avoid supply shortages.
Remember, under the advisory, you can consume your tap water at home after running your cold tap water for two to three minutes and using a certified filter, like the ones we provided. You can also continue using unfiltered tap water for non-consumption uses.
Your bills will not be impacted by water use because your water bills are waived, and sewer bills are capped at rates set before the advisory began.
As we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our customers and employees, we will provide further updates as this situation evolves.

3/12/2020 - We would like to remind you that, if you are under the advisory, you can consume your tap water if you flush and filter.

First, run your cold tap for two to three minutes and then filter it through an NSF-certified filter, like the faucet and pitcher filters we have provided. Make sure to follow all manufacturers’ instructions to ensure proper filter use.
As always, you can continue to use unfiltered tap water for non-consumption uses like washing your hands, bathing and washing dishes.

It is critical that you use your water so the treatment can work. Water use will allow the treatment to move through your home’s plumbing, building a protective layer on your pipes and resolving this situation.

3/18/2020 - As we have all experienced in the past few days, public health experts and regulators are recommending significant changes to our daily lives to stop the spread of COVID-19.

We understand there is a lot of uncertainty, and we want to be clear that we will continue providing uninterrupted water and sewer service to all our customers during this outbreak.
As part of our commitment to making the safety of our customers and employees our top priority, effective today, we are also updating our procedures at the distribution center for customers who are under the advisory.
If you visit the distribution center, please:

  1. Keep windows closed and remain in your vehicle.
  2. Place your ID or water bill against the closed window so we can verify your address is under the advisory.
  3. Open the trunk from within your vehicle. If not possible, exit to open the trunk and then return directly to your vehicle while maintaining the 6-feet social distancing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We will only place water in the trunk (no back or front seats).
To protect public health, we will not be filling personal water jugs until further notice. We are working hard to continue providing this service while creating a positive and respectful environment for our customers and employees. We ask that everyone please be courteous and follow these rules to keep us all safe. We also want to remind you that if you are under the advisory, you can consume your tap water after running your cold tap water for two to three minutes and using a certified filter, like the ones we provided. You can also continue using unfiltered tap water for non-consumption uses, like washing your hands. Your bills will not be impacted by at-home water use because your water bills continue to be waived and sewer bills are capped at rates set before the advisory began. Our commitment to you is to continue putting your well-being first and being fully open and transparent as this situation evolves. Please continue to visit WaterFactsIL.com for more information or call 877.987.2782 if you have questions. As always, we appreciate your patience.
