Why It Is Important To Run Your Water
Running your faucet for two to three minutes before consumption helps ensure you are getting fresh water from Aqua Illinois’ service lines. According to the EPA, flushing your pipes reduces potential lead exposure.
Think about how you use your water in your home. Every time you take a shower or bath, wash your dishes, run a load of laundry, flush your toilet or wash your hands, you are flushing your pipes. This normal daily use of tap water helps maintain the protective coating our treatment is building in your interior plumbing.
Regular tap water use will help the treatment process take effect in your home and help us all achieve a long-term solution in your community.
