July 2020 Community Updates

7/16/2020 - During these warm summer months, if you are under the advisory...

July 16, 2020 During these warm summer months, if you are under the advisory, we want to remind you that you can continue using unfiltered tap water for non-consumption purposes, including washing your hands, watering the lawn or bathing. Even if water contains lead, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, human skin does not absorb it from water. You can consume tap water under the advisory if you FIRST run cold tap water for two to three minutes, and then filter it through an NSF-certified filter, like the faucet and pitcher filters we have provided. After following this two-step process, you can use the cold, filtered tap water for drinking, cooking, making ice cubes or any other consumption purpose. Make sure to follow all manufacturers’ instructions to ensure proper filter use and remember that filter replacements are available for pick-up at the distribution center. Please continue to run cold tap water from your kitchen sink for an extra 30 minutes every day, in addition to regular use to help the treatment work. For more information, continue to visit WaterFactsIL.com or call 877.987.2782 with any questions. As always, we appreciate your ongoing patience and cooperation.

7/30/2020 - It is important to replace your faucet or pitcher filters...

It is important to replace your faucet or pitcher filters as needed to ensure proper use. We want to remind you to reference all manufacturers’ instructions to determine when you need a replacement. For the faucet filter we provided, start planning to replace the filter once the indicator light flashes yellow. When the indicator light is red, it is time for a replacement.

We are continuing to offer filter replacements, free of charge, to anyone under the advisory at the Aqua Distribution Center. To consume your cold tap water, allow it to run for 2-3 minutes and then filter it through an NSF-certified filter to remove lead. In addition to regular use, please also remember to run cold tap water from your kitchen sink for an extra 30 minutes every day to help the treatment work.

For distribution center hours and more information, please visit WaterFactsIL.com. If you have questions, you can reach us at 877.987.2782.

Thank you for your continued patience as we build on our progress in your community.
